Minecraft Player Utilizes NASA Data to Create 1:45 Scale Hawaiian Islands Map

We've got games to keep us entertained during the pandemic. If you're looking for more places to explore, a Minecraft player has recreated the Hawaiian Islands in a "fully playable" map that has the entire chain of islands available to explore. The map is based on NASA and other satellite data to ensure precise topography.

Frank Cesco, the creator of the map, explains that it's a 1:45 scale map. One-meter blocks now corresponds to 45 meters of ground in the real world. To facilitate navigation, the Y-axis scale is slightly exaggerated to 1:22. The total map size is 16,663 by 10,567 blocks, so there's plenty to explore.

You can find instructions on how to download the map for yourself in the description of the creator's YouTube video.  System32 Frank Cesco's name could be familiar due to the comprehensive map of Europe that he released last summer at a smaller scale of 1:230.
